NSD Winter Baseball - EXCLUSIVE FOR ROCKY MOUNTAIN LITTLE LEAGUE

The work that baseball players perform over the winter months directly relates to on-field performances in the spring and summer.

The NSD Winter Baseball program is the most comprehensive baseball conditioning program available in Alberta. Training sessions will cover aerobic and anaerobic conditioning, baseball specific strength, flexibility, SAQ (Speed, Agility, Quickness), throwing, batting and fielding. Over the course of the program, players will be progressed through several strength and conditioning phases as well as attending injury prevention seminars.

The goal of these baseball programs is to physically prepare athletes for the demands of baseball and the spring and summer seasons while providing continual skill practice and improvement.

Regular Season
Blastball / T-Ball   5-6  Registration is Closed
   On or Before March 15, 2009 - $ 80.00
   After March 15, 2009 - $ 80.00

Great games designed for our youngest players. The children are introduced to the game and taught the fundamentals of throwing, catching, fielding and hitting in a very safe and fun environment. Typically a season will begin with lots of BlastBall, designed for lots of repititions at hitting and lots of running. As the players develop, T-Ball becomes the game played throughout most of the season. Some coaches like to mix in a little “coach-pitch” at times near mid-June. This is the Division for 5 year-olds and novice 6 year-olds.
Coach-Pitch   6-7  Registration is Closed
   On or Before March 15, 2009 - $ 125.00
   After March 15, 2009 - $ 125.00

This game involves most aspects of a true baseball game except the coach or a parent pitches the ball. The game is played with a softer ball and the idea is to have lots of hitting, lots of running, and lots of fun. It is designed for 6 year-olds with at least one year of T-Ball, and novice 7 year-olds, although “younger” 8 year-olds may participate at this level if that is the wishes of the parents.
Rookie Ball   8-9  Registration is Closed
   On or Before March 15, 2009 - $ 125.00
   After March 15, 2009 - $ 125.00

A step up from Coach-Pitch, we use a mechanical pitching machine to deliver the pitch at a calibrated speed and position. Lots and lots of hitting in this division, but the level of play is designed for those who have had at least one year of Coach-Pitch, or appropriate for most beginning 8 year-olds
AAA Division   9-10  Registration is Closed
   On or Before March 15, 2009 - $ 160.00
   After March 15, 2009 - $ 185.00

Pitching becomes part of the game and your child’s coaches should be encouraging as many of their players as possible to pitch, at least in practice situations There is a strong emphasis on teaching basic skills, and many of our players will be learning the game for the first time. The division follows “House Rules”, modifications appropriate to play at this level. This is the first age group where players are evaluated and many of the more advanced players will be given the opportunity to “move up” to the AA Division. AAA is also the first Division where an All-Star team will continue with Tournament play after the regular season.
AA / Majors Division   11-12  Registration is Closed
   On or Before March 15, 2009 - $ 195.00
   After March 15, 2009 - $ 220.00

AA Divison: An intermediate step where the players are older and / or more experienced. Coaches recognize that they will have some beginners on their teams, but the players are at an age where they pick up the game and the skills very rapidly. Most players are in this Division for a single season. There are some “House Rules” that apply, and an All-Star team is formed for July – Aug long weekend play.

Majors: This is the upper level of the progression. Players are drafted to their respective teams in this Division and, if 11 years old, will return to that team in the following season (unless they request to be drafted to another team). This is the first Division where the complete Little League Rules & Regulations are followed precisely. It is the group for Little League Baseball, with the All-Star Final – the Little League World Series - held in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, and televised internationally.
